Jim Lampley arrested


The domestic violence merry-go-round just keeps spinning. TMZ.com reported this morning that HBO boxing announcer Jim Lampley was arrested in San Diego County on felony charges of domestic abuse, and two counts of violating a restraining order. This sucks. It’s disappointing to learn that someone you hold in such high regard is being charged with beating up his girlfriend. One of life’s little treats is listening to Jim Lampley call a fight, even if it’s between a couple of stiffs. There hasn’t been anybody better at it since Cosell. Now I have to do that whole separate the art from the artist thing the next he calls a fight. I know there are two sides to every story but from all accounts, things aren’t looking good for Lampley. I wonder how Harold Lederman would’ve scored the alleged bout.
